Lake Annone is the largest of the Brianza lakes and is situated in the northern part of Brianza, west of Lecco. It is surrounded by several hills, including Mount Barro to the north-east and the Cornizzolo to the north. The narrow Isella peninsula forms a channel that divides the lake into two parts. The largest section is known as Lake Oggiono, after the municipality that overlooks the lake's eastern end.
It is believed that an ancient Roman bridge once connected the two peninsulas, allowing the passage of a major communication road between Lecco and Como.
The lake's perimeter can be explored on foot or by bicycle. Those who enjoy being in contact with water, on the other hand, can paddle in canoes and kayaks.
